Charleston has released the list of about 15 miles of roads that will be paved during the 2025 paving season.
The Gazette-Mail created a map of the streets based off the list provided by the city. The map is available at .
The City Council approved a $3.2 million contract with the lowest bidder, Bear Contracting from Bridgeport. Bear did the city’s paving last year.
“As far as I know, we had very [few] complaints,†City Manager Ben Mishoe said about Bear Contracting’s paving work in 2024. “They did a good job. They did a quick job, as well.â€
Mishoe said that while sometimes streets get taken off or added to the list, the city mostly sticks to the list, which can be seen at .
All streets on last year’s paving list were paved. Council members submit streets for consideration. Last year, City Engineer Chris Knox said inspectors prioritize the streets based on the submissions and streets they already know need paving.
