Jonh Henriquez led the charge with five innings of two-hit ball to get the win. He fanned eight Blue Crabs and walked four.

Manuel Alvarez, Lance Lusk, Carlos Mea and Frank Moscatiello each worked one frame after that. Alvarez and Lusk’s innings were both hitless. Lusk’s was perfect. Lusk and Meza both had two punchouts.

Moscatiello put three runners on, with two hits and a hit-by-pitch, but he induced a double play and then stranded runners on the corners with a strikeout to end the game and pick up a save.

Bobby Bradley’s first-inning sacrifice fly plated James Nelson for the only run Charleston (8-11) needed.

Nelson and Alsander Womack each had two hits for the Dirty Birds. Nelson scored twice.

Brett Barrera had two hits for Southern Maryland (11-8).

Joey Hennessey took the decision for the Blue Crabs in a two-inning starting stint.
